This was our rental for the trip. There were a couple times where the thing nearly ran out of gas. Both in the middle of nowhere. Once near Colinga, CA, and once in South Central.

This thing almost ran out in Beverly Hills, too. Fun times.

The incident in Coalinga was scary. The car showed about 15 miles of range and we got off the highway to find a gas station. Found out the lights we saw weren't a town but rather a dairy farm. We crossed the freeway and drove on this twisty 2-lane road in the dark (which soon became very foggy) and saw no sign of the town. We pulled off the road at a dairy farm and called information. The range showed "---". Turns out we could have just stayed on I-5 for about 2 miles and it would have curved around to the right and taken us right where we drove 12 miles to go. Long story short, we got the gas we needed. I believe it was also at that point where we found that the rear hatch wasn't closed all the way and we could have lost all our luggage and laptops. The car gave no warning about that.
