I thought they didn't get quad headlights until '58. Or was it a late-year '57 thing?

Early '57s had dual headlights, mid-to-late '57s had quads. They designed the bezels specifically to hold quads, and just were waiting for the moment the government allowed them to use quads.

Most other manufacturers just decided to wait for the '58 model year.

#2, One notable example of a quad-light '57 is Ernie's DeSoto from The Piranha Club comic strip.

#4, I winced when he mentioned a "1963 DeSoto."

#5, Yeah, I know... and most of his comics with them were seriously off-model... he's not a car guy, but he still loves that underrated defunct brand.

#5, I winced also at the "hooking Chernoble up to the Duracel Rabbit" line in the last strip.
Chernobyl
Duracell
And it's the Energizer Bunny...

I also like how the car changes from a sedan to a coupe without explanation.

#7, Oh, but it's just AWFUL what happened to gag-a-day comics in the 21st Century! The newspapers don't carry them anymore....

Yeah, ever wonder WHY!?

#7, Apparently outside of the US, it's actually Duracell that uses the rabbit mascot. The artist seems to be Swedish.
