#1, The XR3 was one of the first major European competitors to the 1st-gen VW GTi... there are still a few people that consider it a superior hot-hatch of the era.

#2, That's a surprising piece of information. Then again VW brainwashing propaganda might be responsible for comparative models being forgotten.

Great, because of this, I rewatched the segment of Clarkson's Car Years that profiled this car... and I want a model of one now, too...

#5, Sunstar has a ton of Escorts. From base cabrios to RS200s to '75 Ghias and so forth. Each one has its own license plate, and you can get them in RHD and LHD. I've got a few more coming :)

I've gotten really into older British cars lately (especially from the 1960s-1980s), so this seems pretty cool to me.

Now, if someone will just make a 1:18 of a MkIII Ford Cortina....

#8, MkIII is 1970 -1976.

I know Autoart made a '60s Lotus Cortina, which I have been wanting. But it's a bit hard to find.

#9, I have a first-edition Matchbox Superfast Cortina Mk IV sedan, but I've never seen a 1:18 Cortina let alone one of the Mk III.

#3, To be perfectly fair, I believe the XR3 *did* come out after the GTi, so it would stand to reason that it wouldn't be as memorable.

Though, on the other hand, the Vauxhall Chevette HSR and Sunbeam Lotus both showed up before the GTi... so who knows...

The XR3 is pretty cool, but I think this one is actually the one I want: http://cgi.ebay.com/1975-Ford-Escor...93%3A1|294%3A50

The price seems good for the level of detail, too.

#14, Sun Star makes the MkII Escort in a whole slew of trims and colors (14 including racing livery).
They also make a gorgeous 1970 Triumph Spitfire. http://sunstartoys.com/uploads/image/1041.jpg

#15, Sunstar is AWESOME. They have a 1952 Nash, a 1964 Galaxie and cop and road trim, and they have a few other niceties. They have Corvairs now, too and are going to be introducing wagons and hatches for the Escort range, and some more Corvair variants too.

#16, Don't forget that they make a Ford Skyliner that has an actual foldable hardtop.

#16, Do they make the EXP ?

#18, I think he meant the European Escort range. The EXP was US-only as far as I know.
