Is there some big BMW vs Chevy rivalry in touring car racing, or do the BMWs just keeping hitting the Chevys by chance?

#1, In any racing series where contact is a normal occurance, there'll always be major rivalry between the manufacturers... Touring Cars, stock cars, V8 Supercars, etc...

#1, Just put a typical BMW and a typical Chevy fan in one room for a day and watch. Oh, and bring the mop.

Also, from my experience it's easier to 'catch' a slide in an FWD car to some extent (just slam the gas, the weight shifts rearward and the front pulls helping even further), BUT 'some extent' is key here. FWD cars have a very nasty tendency of 'snapping' back into grip and usually the front wheels are pointed waaaay wrong and the whole car spears off the road in the opposite direction. You need to counter-countersteer so to say and have the wheels pointing OUT of the slide before the front grips and be prepared for some fast corrections as the car settles down. I fucked up once and ended up fishtailing for probably around 50 meteres and getting dumped sideways into a forest in the end. Almost killed me.
