I'm quite well aware of Touring Car Primeras...

...though mine has a more pressing issue right now... something is going seriously wrong with it... it's either the brakes, the CV joints, the suspension, or god help me, the transmission... going into the shop Friday. Something is definitely interfering between the gas/brake pedals and the tires on the ground.

#4, There's a grinding sensation whenever I'm braking at low speeds... it's been getting progressively worse, and now last night, the grinding continued even after I let go of the brakes when I pulled into my parking space.

[edit] It's strange, but it seems to be worse when it's hotter out.

#5, Sounds like a sticking pad/caliper problem but of course have it checked out.

#7, I agree, sounds like a bad caliper.

I was just worrying that the grinding could be:

- Suspension slowly collapsing, causing something to drag on the ground, or a tire to drag on the inner-wheelwell
- Transmission acting-up or not working well with deceleration anymore...
- CV joints wearing out (they've been periodically clicking when turning lock-to-lock-style at low speeds ever since I bought the car... I know the clicking shouldn't be there, but it hasn't gotten any worse at all in 2 1/2 years)

...of course, brakes were always my first instinct since the grinding only happens during braking or immediately afterwards.

[edit] Have I really owned that car 2 1/2 years already? Damn. Only had the Mirage for 3, and that sure feels like it was a much MUCH longer period of time.

#10, New rotors and pads, and the car feels normal again. Apparently the hydraulic system and calipers were perfectly fine... the rotors were in really, really bad shape, apparently.

#11, Good to hear.
Oh, and thank God you have an Infiniti/Nissan. On old Renaults a simple brake job can turn into a nightmare: for my model alone there are at least 2 different disk types, 3 different front caliper types and 3 (or 4?) different drum shoe types. And if you think that the VIN will tell you what parts to buy, you're wrong. It seems Jean Luc the Galouises Chain Smoking Assembler simply used whatever was on the shelf closest to him, so in the end you never know if your Super 5 has a Bendix, Lucas or WhatTheFuck brakes, or a mixture of them.
