Description:
My parents owned this 1981 Toyota SR5 pickup in the '80s. They sold it a short time after I was born because it was too small for three people. This picture was taken in summer 1984.

My dad tells me that when he bought the camper you see in the picture (my folks nicknamed it "the Turtle" for some reason) it had been previously used on a later-model '70s Ranchero, which we all know had flying buttresses running back from the rear of the greenhouse. Because of the Ranchero's roof/body design, the camper had to be modified to slot over those buttresses. When my dad bought the camper, he discovered those cutouts and had to do a bunch of reconstructive work to restore the camper back to basically stock condition for installation on the Toyota.
