I think red interiors were pretty much obsolete by the early 90's too, the modern plasticky-lego interior seems to only come in black, look at a color option for OEM-replacement carpets in even a 1992 Camaro, and there are like 12 options, including red, blue and even green. Man, when did they decide to sap the color out of everything? The last car I drove with a colorful interior with genuine carpet was a 92' Plymouth Acclaim

#2, The Kia Sephia used color coordinated interiors around the turn of the millenium, and I seem to recall the press at the time complementing them for that. But these days, yeah, automakers have decided that gray, tan, and black go with everything, and to produce color-specific interiors costs them slightly extra to dye it.
You DO still find blue, green, and red interiors in premium luxury and sports cars, but just not on the normal stuff anymore. |

I remember Grandpa's 82' New Yorker with red carpet, red seats red headliner ,and furry red crushed fabric door panels, that was a cool car. |
