So, apparently, the Harlequin (or Harlekin) Polo had a production run in 1995 of 3800 units, originally supposed to be 1000... a year later, VW North America tried the same thing with the Golf, but only 275 units were produced... a few of which were then painted a solid-color after-the-fact because dealers simply couldn't sell them.

My cousin tried to convince me not to take a picture of this car because "it's terrible". He's lived in Germany for years so I guess he's seen enough of these things.

I have to admit, I admire the quirkiness and absurdity of the Harlequin Polos and Golfs... but I am a very strange person to begin with...
