With the Lexus I hope to win in the contest, I planned on selling the car and using the money to pay for the rest of the restoration of my convertible, with maybe enough left over to buy another, safer Archie. It's funny, people thought I was crazy for turning down $10k for the car. But now that I might make an extra $30k off the car, I am suddenly off my nut for getting rid of the car. Lol

#4, Thanks for sorta backing me up on this. My car is on its last legs. It wobbles really bad. The oil light comes on even when there IS oil in the motor. I could go on for hours about all the things wrong with it. After seeing first hand what it takes to restore a car (I'm maybe 40%-50% done my convertible), which is what would be required if I were to drive Archie another 10-20 years, I just don't think it's worth all the work and money. It is not that rare of a car. I saved a much rarer car from certain destruction when I bought my convertible. Score one for me overall maybe? It doesn't matter that much to me what people think about me. That's what happens when you drive my car for so many years. Would you like to try it? $15k and it's yours and I'll remove it from the contest. |

#4, what better way than to have it blown up on national television?
Part it out?
It just seems like an undignified, maybe even disrespectful end to the car. |

I say go for it, dude! If you are going to restore another car with the proceeds, that's no different in my mind than hacking up a donor car for a resto. Plus, it's YOUR car! |

#8, There are no parts left on the car which someone would say "oooh, I need that for my car". Maybe the back window. Perhaps I can remove it first. It has given all it can, except for a fanfare of an ending. I hope they let me drive it there. I should really stop assuming I'll win. Lol! Hey, can someone make an account on their site and post a comment like "Love your site at StillRuns.com - Farewell Archie!"
That would really make my day :-) |
