Why a motorcycle? Well, FIA wouldn't accept the record as official, since it didn't classify The Spirit as a car. A car had to have at least 2 driven wheels. Motorcycle federation FIM however, had a unlimited class for motorcycle land records.

He almost drowned in this thing, on one of his runs he went off the end of the marked track and into a part of the lake that hadn't dried out yet, he was lucky to survive what would have been a very unusual demise.
