#1, At least Pontiac went out on a high note. How did Oldsmobile end? The fucking Alero.

#2, I'd rock one of these, too. They'll probably not gain collector value as quickly as the 2004-2006 GTO, meaning one might still be able to buy these cheaply in a few years.

#3, I bet the GXPs will.

I'd actually be more inclined to pine for a Solstice Coupe GXP... considering the rarity of them, their collector value is probably assured.

#5, I'd say so. 2009 MY only - only starting in march and ending in september.

Solstice coupes are rare enough - but the GXP coupe is the one that'll turn up in Scotsdale AZ in 20 years time.

I haven't seen a Solstice coupe in the flesh. Ever. Were they even made?

I was fortunate enough to see one on the street, albeit it was the one they put on the turntable at the auto show that same day. 77155

I've seen exactly two Solstice hardtop coupes in my life, that's at least as much as I can recall. One was a yellow GXP I found quite fetching.

One black coupe (couldn't tell if it was a GXP or not). Tis quite fetching.

#3, Pontiac went out on a high note? Dude, the last American Pontiac was a G6 for a rental fleet. The last Pontiac ever was a damn G3 made in South Korea. :(

#12, Regardless, the G8 was fantastic, and still in production until the end. Compare it to the fates of other American marques:

Oldsmobile: The last one I'd consider cool was probably the B-body Custom Cruiser of 1992. Maybe the Intrigue, if I'm feeling generous. The end wasn't pretty.
AMC: Jeeps were fine up to - and past - the end, and they still made the Eagle 4x4s. But the rest of their lineup was largely replaced with shitty Renaults.
Studebaker: The Avanti was sold off and the Hawk GT left production after '64, and by 1966 they only had one retreaded body with a few packages and Chevrolet inline sixes.
Packard: Ended with a hideous rebody on a Studebaker.
Hudson: Hash
Mercury: The Capri GT was the last cool one, and the Marauder was the last real attempt. Otherwise, it was just rental fleet shit.
Plymouth: The Prowler was an interesting experiment, though pretty much a failure in every way. Otherwise, long-suffering.
