Oddly enough, the car has a third brake light. Those were federally mandated started in 1986, but 1986 is the year that the 88 went FWD. Did Olds beat other brands to the third brake light?

I see what you're saying, but it looks like the head rest to me. From what I do recall, which is admittedly hazy, the `85 B-Bodies had the third brake light.

#2, Some insurance companies offered rebates for people who retrofitted their pre-'86 cars with a CHMSL back in the day. That's why my '85 Pontiac has one. According to my dad, it was a late-'85 model so it had all the wiring connections in anticipation of the '86, but the '85 speaker grille had to be cut in order to install it.
