Description:
Um, ok, like I think I am the first to post a photo on here from the Cannonball Phoenix Spree. We had a run up to Flagstaff. About 250 miles through Payson, Strawberry, Pine and Sedona. It was the time of my life! I entered my 380,000 mile clunker which had, on the day of the rally, been officially declared a "TOTAL LOSS" by an insurance company because of a recent rear-end collision one month ago

I didn’t just enter the rally, I dominated it! I took home more awards than any other driver. I was up against Vettes, Lambos, Jags, Ferraris, a Cobra, the actual restored vette that was dropped from an airplane in Con Air, plus many other musclecars and classics. I was leading the entire pack of cars for about 10-15 miles until a Vette followed closely by a Mercedes blew by us at 150+. After pushing my clunker to 75-80 mph, about 30 miles into the race, my motor started banging and cutting out. Ouch! I thought for sure that my motor was finished. And I entered the rally prepared for this possibility. But I babied the gas until we got to Payson where we replaced the ignition coil and then finished the rally without another hiccup.

Nice to see Archie keeping it real.

I don't know why, but of the cars pictured, I'd most want to speed through the desert in that red 1966 Impala convertible.

#3, They are friends of mine, fellow members of the Arizona Impalas. The passenger of that car also owned a 66 Impala convertible but he sold it at Barret Jackson a year or two ago. They entered the run at the last minute and, like me, had a blast!

I recognize that yellow and white Mercury sedan as 75738, unless it's an identical twin.

#5, They should have won the award for oldest vehicle in the rally, but some sort of error caused the award to go to a 60's vehicle. Weird.

Oh, by the way, rumor has it that a Mustang blew up its motor in the first mile or two of the run, spewing motor oil all over a Ferrari!

Imagine the hijinks they could have had between the General Lee and the cop car. Shame there was no black '68 Charger R/T to go with the Highland Green Mustang.
