I wish good sales for this car, and the Fiesta, too... I want to see automakers continue to offer well-designed subcompacts on the American market, and perhaps more auto manufacturers will jump into the market, as well.

...also, I quite like the styling of this little guy... I think I like it more than the Fiesta.

#1, Same. The only letdown is the rather cheap interior. No leather and no iPod dock? :(

#2, I wouldn't expect leather in a car in this category. I would think MP3 capability is a given, though.

#3, the Fit, Fiesta and I think some of the Scions have leather. Hell, you can get a damn Aveo with leather.

Y'know, not having an iPod dock doesn't bother me... since I don't have an iPod... my little Sansa mp3 player works beautifully with the simple auxiliary input jack, though. The sound system is incredible.

I love the fact this car doesn't have "options"... you either get "Sport" (base model), or you pay $1500 more to get "Touring", with foglights, updgraded stereo, cruise control, alloys, nicer cloth trim on the seats, satellite buttons on the steering wheel, and a (tiny) rear spoiler... for $1500 that's an awesome deal, and you're not left feeling "Well there are options I'm missing..."

...honestly, in Florida, cloth seats just make more sense. I mean, hell, my father has a Pacifica and Cabrio in both PA and FL... his ones in PA have leather, but his ones in FL have cloth.

I will state again how much I utterly adore my 2. I don't think I loved any of my previous cars as much as this. Yes, I loved the lightweight nimbleness of the Mirage. I loved the fully-loaded nature and chassis-tautness of the G20. This is a combination of both. ...and Lord knows I adore a vehicle with a rear hatch. ...and I love the styling. The only thing I find issue with is Mr. Happy Mouth in the front fascia, but everything else looks designed for a purpose... there's no other "unneeded" styling bits, IMO...

#6, I hate that so many modern cars don't have options. If I want to option fog lights, I don't want to be forced to get cruise control and a different radio with it.

Hmm... compare your Mazda 2 to my used '07 Focus SES... $10k and change bought a very clean 30+ mpg 4-door car with foglights, upgraded stereo, cruise control, alloys, (aftermarket) leather seats, and a rear spoiler. And a usable trunk. The only steering wheel buttons I have run the cruise control, but the audio interface is straightforward enough and it has a 6-disc changer in the dash. There's an Aux button but no input jack; apparently Ford decided to cut costs on general Focus production, though the stereo will accept an aftermarket FRD04-AUX input adapter. My music collection is too small to make it worthwhile.

I will say this about the 2... yes, the trunk area is small... the entire CAR is small. It's so easy to navigate and park. With my driving seat in my comfortable position, almost all the way back, I can actually sit in the backseat comfortably.

You do make a good point, though... a used car is cheaper than a new car. I hadn't thought of that before.

#9, Yes, it was cheaper out the door, but like most used cars it needed some work and added expense. The used Focus needed brakes, which the dealer replaced as part of the deal. The tires that were on it were new, but defective, so add almost $700 for new tires and however much the engine mounts cost to replace in addition to that. The car was bought with 76k miles but was one of the cleanest silver '07 Foci in the state that had side airbags, ABS and no sunroof. It has 94k on it now. :(
