don't worry the original Delco unit is in a box in the garage.
Story/ info.
Her grandma was a Chevy person to the fullest. Her last two cars include a 1965 Chevy Impala SS with a 327 (I think) with an automatic, which she had till 1973, then bought a Laguna-- which started the pink thing. That car was silver with pink trim where the red/maroon trim would go. One interesting (and possibly tacky) feature was that in addition to pink fender accents/rocker time, her car had pink Chevy Rallye wheels as well as a redyed pink interior. That car was taken really good care of until MN's winters started to eat it thanks to road salt.

In winter 1985, the Monte Carlo became the Laguna's replacement. The pink you see on the car is dealer paint applied when new. Because of the dealer repaint when new, this car is likely a one of one. The flower was etched into the glass in the fall of 1987 when the car was barely a year old, and there is no plan on replacing it. While the car is 100% original except for audio and future tint/club/alarm, the little things are starting to need replacing. Like all GMs, the dash is peeling/cracking, and we're trying to find replacement parts for that. Another thing is...it seems to have bad weatherstripping, as it leaked through the T-Tops during a minor drizzle this week. It's got fewer than 80k original two-owner miles, and since it's a summer toy, it's going in storage in the winter.
And lastly, yes it still has the original 305, and there are no immediate plans to change it. |
