Description:
The new Chrysler 200. I thought it was a rebadged Hyundai. 2.4 I4 or 3.6 V6 power it.

So it looks to be a current-gen Sebring that mated with a 2010 Saab 9-5. Brilliant work, Chrysler.

I've long been something of a Mopar fan, and a great admirer of the history of Chrysler vehicles. But with shit like this, it's hard to sympathize with them. They've blown so many damn opportunities....

Granted, I don't know much about this car yet, but something tells me it involves a plasticky interior, substandard all-around performance, and transmissions that fail like clockwork every 100,000 miles.

#2, It's a new front and rear fascia on the old Sebring body. The interior is all new, too, as well as the 3.6 Pentastar V6, which will be used in everything from this to to the Caravan.

#1, Aye... the angles they made available in the images... I think they're desperately trying to hide the fact that it's still the same body with new fascias... admittedly, the fascias are much, much better.

#5, There's no arguing that, it just looks.. Chinese? It went from being an ugly-ass car to being a decent-looking blandmobile. I don't think anyone who's not really into cars/doesn't keep up with the auto industry would know this is a Chrysler. I don't know if that's a bad thing. Time will tell, though.

The fascias, for me, look like a blend of new-Jaguar and Lexus ES... to be honest, I never had issue with the *body* of the Sebring... so they fixed the parts that I felt were blech.

But, yeah, I seriously hope they update the interior with better styling and materials... I still remember that my dad had seriously considered getting a Sebring convertible in '97 (he eventually got the LHS), but when he tried a Sebring convertible last year, he was shocked at how HORRID it was, even compared to the Sebring from 12 years prior.

#7, Yeah. The interior on the new Durango (while bland as all fuck) looks to be in a major step in the right direction. My girlfriend had the (dis)pleasure of renting a Compass for awhile a couple weeks back when she brought her daily in for servicing. The interior on that made my 1997 Monte seem like a Mercedes. And I hated the interior on that thing. The Compass interior looks like a great interior.. for a 1992 Dodge Caravan. I mean, I know it was a "entry level" Jeep.. but when a contemporary Hyundai Accent has a nicer interior..well.. there's a problem. I could go on and on about the Compass but I won't.

#8, This is completely unrelated, but I will state that there are two vehicles that, regardless of model year, every time I've been in one I've found the interior to be absolutely soul-suckingly depressing... Hyundai Elantras and Honda Civics.

Honestly, this rehash wasn't a terrible idea. Yes, the car still suffers from Chrysler's idea of making the base car look and feel cheap, and the upper-echelon models look and feel rather nice, but its a better car than the Sebring it replaced.

I see the new 200 on the road, and I actually quite like it. It looks, good, and even the base model looks fairly nice, and not just for what it is, either.

I almost wish I had got one, then I realized the dog, and he probably wouldn't fit.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the Dodge Avenger, which I never really liked.

Yeah, apparently it turned out to be not-so-bad.
