Darn, this is likely in southern California judging by the smog test history on the Chevy behind it. I was hoping the Figaro would be in SF somewhere so I could find and shoot it. :P

Someone visiting from Canada? Or did someone manage to gray-market-import this in America?

#2, I've seen quite a few US plated cars that likely have been bought in Canada and shipped down. There's a MN plated R33 here I need to snap; same with an MN plate Nissan S-Cargo, and quite a few Subaru Sambars as well.

#4, ...the license plate would have been a clue... of course, judging by the in-focus and properly-framed nature of the image, I imagine this isn't your photograph? :P

It's in smog records as a 1991 Nissan Figaro, and it's been in southern CA since at least 2004.

#6, Hmmm.. then, yeah, they got it through some gray-market means.... have to be honest, I don't know the legality or issues with buying an imported car in Canada with their "15 years or older, no red tape" deal, then bringing the car to and registering it in America...

#8, It may have been allowed because it proved itself capable of passing California emissions standards. I really don't know. As of 2005 the Figaro apparently was not eligible for "show and display" importation into California. It's also possible the owner was a soldier stationed in Okinawa (or maybe the UK) who brought his car back to the States.
