Description:
Continuing with my theme of really bad planes, I present, the LAGG-3. This WWII era soviet fighter got it's name from an acronym of the names of it's 3 major designers, Lavochkin-Gorbunov-Gudkov. Soviet pilots who had to fly it had another name for it, "Lakirovanny Garantirovanny Grob" , or "Guaranteed Varnished Coffin" It was, not liked, to put it mildly. |

Built of non-strategic materials, mostly wood and lacquer laminate, the plane was rugged, heavily-armed, and ultimately, so woefully underpowered, that it was unmaneuverable and slower in flight than the WWI era BIPLANES it was supposed to replace |
