I'm half-expecting to see a hand holding a crowbar hover near the bottom of the image with some headcrab zombies hiding behind the wreckage...

Without knowing anything else, I'd say the Maine Central Railroad is down one locomotive....

Actually, most of the "damage" is probably from them deciding to scrap it on-site in lieu of salvaging and rebuilding it, looks to be a high-hooded GP unit, which makes it between 40 and 50 years old at this point. The big dent in the fuel tank and the pile of cinders by the cab tells me it fell over on that side from a derailment, they simply righted it and have been taking it apart, they most likely cut the top off so they could take the engine/generator out as a whole unit, the wheels/trucks with the traction motors probably fell out when it derailed since they aren't physically attached, they simply stay in place by the weight of the locomotive body on top. The fact it's got light rust starting where the paint scraped off the cab tells me it's been sitting here for a while, it's also missing salvagable doodads, like the headlights and the batteries from the storage box under the window.....
