Hmmm, I'm going to have to do a little research on this... looks like an EMD engine of some kind, can't tell from the shadows, but it may be running on 4-axle trucks despite having the overall length of a 6 axle SD... These commuter engines, since they operate under different conditions than freight locomotives (much lighter loads) it's not unusual to see "custom" builds by manufacturers. Like the fact it has a very tiny fuel tank that's only about 1/2 the size you'd see on a standard freight engine, with the other "half" of the space being taken by electrical equipment for running the lights/heat/air conditioning on the passenger cars.... |
