Description:
My BMW 320i during my first rally in that car.
Total RWD noob and first time with some proper suspension and performance brakes: that, plus it's a daily driver. Anyway, at this point this car is waaay faster than me.

#40, Yeeouch.... :(

Honestly, you probably shouldn't be too worried about the cosmetics of a car that sees that much track time. Just hammer out the dents yourself the best you can. If the paint gets too bad, look up articles on how to do a Rustoleum paint job....I would think white would be an easy color to pull that off with.

I am going to lose my fucking shit: another mechanic, another 'replace part X' bullshit diagnosis. What the fuck is the problem with fixing rough low rev acceleration and power loss in a car that was built in MILLIONS?! FUCK YOU ALL

#44, Reminds me of my dad's '94 Taurus. Everything that happened to it was "Could not verify" from Ford dealer techs who plugged in the diagnostic computer and didn't have a clue what was actually wrong with the car. Every second or third car they worked on was probably a Taurus since it was the best-selling car in the US back then, but that didn't change anything.

#45, Probably the most mind melting thing was when a guy popped the hood and asked me 'Hey, where's the battery...?' What... The... Fuck... Of course, every useless dipshit grease monkey will be quick to tell you they had 5 E36s and various family memebers had 10 or more. But it still somehow surprises him that ALL 6-cyl E36 have an amazingly special and rare and untypical battery location... ever. Suck my AIDS infested cock you useless piece of human shit.

So it appears that about 6 months ago some scumbag pocketed both the Bosch O2 sensor and Beru spark plugs I bought and told them to put into my car, fiddled with the ECU to mask the problem, made me pay for the job they did not do and called it a day. No way to prove this now, of course, he'll just say another mechanic swapped the parts for worn ones after he changed them.

How many times can you get fucked before you get pregnant, again?

I'm very close to going with the original plan: stuffing the car into the garage and slowly turning it into a group N competition car as cash trickles down. I can't win the fight to try and keep it in pristine original condition when I a)don't have any money, b)can't find a good mechanic, c)can't fucking stop racing it hard. The biggest expense if I go down that route will be prepping the body shell: the good thing is I don't have to do this as long as I keep to amateur events.

Visited the body shop, got a quote... that made my knees buckle.
To do: get new front fenders (junkyard), paint, put on the car, fix the rust and/or hole(s) on the front of the rocker panel box/A pillar, get new door (junkyard), paint, put on the car, fix the small but deep dents in right rocker panel and on the right corner, small crease on the left rear quarter, fix any rust that might have appeared during the winter, paint fixed areas.
I might end up just getting the front done, since there are monsters luring behind the plastic wheel well covers and chaging the well ventilated fenders, probably get them painted. The rest... probably I will just get some rust treatment, spray paint it and wait for better days try to gether some money.

So this night someone tried to steal my car. I cannot fathom why anyone would try but I do know I'd inflict some bodily harm if I'd catch them. Minor damage but this comes just a week after I got the car back from the body and paint shop.

#54, A small paint scratch and external upper part of the window seal is missing (cut off?). The lower window trim was lying on the ground but is OK and I've already put it back on. It seems they tried to push the driver's door glass down or get the upper part out, there are also traces of their dirty paws on the upper door frame and - puzzingly - on the sunroof. Cop said he/they must've been either very high/drunk or complete amateurs (I agree: this car doesn't even have an alarm, a pro would drive off in 30sec... then again what the fuck would a pro do with a 1991 non-M3 E36?) OR perhaps they were scared off. The last hypothesis would explain why they didn't even give the door a good kick or rip off a mirror of of frustration when they left.

It's my 3rd week in Germany. The top speed of my car is 207kph, as per GPS. The official top speed is 214kph, I'd say the beemer did OK for a 1991 car with a couple of problems.

#56, Had to quickly multiply that by 0.62 ... 132mph is pretty damned impressive. I remember the Top Gear cheap sports car (that isn't a Porsche) challenge... they had difficulty cracking 115mph (except James with his V12 Jaguar, who hit 140)

#57, Frankly, I feel that the 214kph figure was somehow fabricated, usually 150hp-ish cars reach about 200kph. One of the things that actually do depends on hp in real world is the top speed. 150hp simply allows for so much air pushing.
It felt eerily calm at that speed, not much different than 160kph.
Too bad I have to get rid of it >:(

#59, I'm gutted but I have no choice. It has several problems most severe of which is a big oil leak from the diff. For some reason after an inspection + oil change everything started to leak: engine, gearbox, diff. What the fuck have they done to the car I have no idea: it had seepage but it never dropped oil on the ground. This is bad in a coutry like Germany where cars cannot leak any fluids. Plus, I always park in the same spot, a single car car port next to my hired flat. Guess how long before I am kicked out? Anyway, this plus other problems plus labour costs starting at 70 Euro per hour... I am sorry, old friend. It hurts...
