That's about the worst I've ever seen a car tore up from accident alone, assuming that none of that is the result of the jaws of life..... but considering the lack of blood on the airbag and seat, I'd say the driver extracted himself from the car shortly after the accident started......
I'm glad that in 5 years now of towing, I've only had to respond to 2 fatals. And both were "cleaned up" before I even got there

#5, Only if they didn't do anything to deserve it.
The dumb Russian kid who took his crotch-rocket Suzuki into the side of a Ford F350 King Ranch with no helmet? That was just an inventive suicide, the dumbass got what he deserved for doing triple-digits on a surface street. |

I was talking to another tow truck driver in another town a while back about the worst wreck he ever had to clean up.
Came up on the wreck where a tri-axle dump truck hauling coal had tipped over on it's side. He told the police the truck was too big for him to recover. They told him "yeah, we know, we got another rig coming for the dump truck, when it's back on it's wheels, you get the car that's underneath it"
It was a Buick Park Avenue, I saw the remains myself, highest point on the car was the "C" pillar on the passengers side, which was only about 3 feet tall, the rest of the car was flatter than that.
Double fatal, one at the scene, one later in hospital. |

Gives you something to think about... the longer I race and the older I get (sounds funny... but time does move on) the calmer I drive. Hell, I actually started doing speed limits - which no one in Poland does. I am also increasingly alarmed by how hopelessly unprepared new drivers are, save for solving dumb, illogical exam tests and parallel parking skills. If an old Beemer full of teenage idiots crashes sideways into a tree... should I smirk (hah, evolution at work!) or mourn (no one told these young morons what happens to a car at that speed)? |
