The French are masters of efficient car design (haters would say they are cheap bastards): while the chassis and body are new, Citroen Sport guys stumbled upon a retired Peugeot 908 HDI LeMans car while visiting their amis from Peugeot. The 'borrowed' wheels, suspension, steering, brakes, roof air intake and rear wing. While on the premises, they also found an old LeMans 3.2l twin turbo V6 lying around and an ex-electrician WRC pensioner called Seb milling about.

#1, My father has always considered the French to have some of the finest engineers in the world...

...but the worst people in charge of implementing said engineering.

...and the laziest, most entitled blue collar culture in the world.

France is pretty much [barely] kept afloat by their agriculture industry... but their farmers are only getting older, with the entitled younger generations not willing to head in that direction, so the whole country is heading for an economic reckoning.

#3, I've never been to France, only to Wallonia (the part of Belgium that thinks it's French). My jaw dropped, it was almost like rural Poland, only less poor & shit and more lazy & not giving a fuck. Quite possibly the only place in western Europe where roads have potholes and building a bridge can take 15 years.
Regarding what you've said, I think a perfect example would be the total fuck up that was the French interwar tank programme. Remember, France was the coutry that pretty much invented the modern turreted and gun-armed tank with Renault FT. And then (just an example)... http://youtu.be/W-eroy3GP-A

#7, WTF, it's not the right link... this one is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Char_2C
Basically every interwar French tank has a similar story behind it, but not everyone was as useless.
