#1, I just had a weird thought... what if the Dodge van my family had in the '80s was bought by an exporter who sent it to Japan... for all I know, it could be racing at this very moment :P

#3, I'm always curious... do people who owned cars 20-30 years ago ever wonder where their old car is/went?

My Capri... junkyard; my Mirage... junkyard; my G20... saw it driving out and about by someone else for a year or so (the paint had been either redone or heavily polished/waxed), now probably junkyard. The Sentra... don't know, don't care. The Mazda2... was probably shipped off for dealer auction somewhere in Orlando. Hope it's living an ok life... probably still has the aftermarket taillights.

My Pontiac... family bought in '87, I still have it. 178k
My Buick... family bought in '00, I still have it. +/-132k (odo doesn't display)
My Focus... family bought in '10, I still have it. 134k

Mom's Vue... bought in '08, still has it. 101k
Dad's '71 GMC... bought in '98 or so, still has it. +/-128k
Dad's '66 Mustang project... bought in '80, still has it. Hasn't moved under its own power since ...1986?
The only car that's left the immediate family since I've been on RoN is the 2002 Prius my grandma gave to my dad, who gave it to my aunt, who gave it to her niece in Oregon.
Dad still has possession of Grandma's 2015 Prius but despises it and pines for a Focus ST or a new Chevy Colorado.

The '84 Camaro: Sold to my sister, who in turn sold it for a few hundred to some guy in Texas. Probably derelict in somebody's yard now.

1978 Aspen: Sold for around $1500, saw it driving around for around a year afterward. Probably derelict in somebody's yard.

Volvo: Sold to a local mechanic, who in turn sold it to a mentally retarded guy for next to nothing. Guy beat the shit out of it and spray painted all over it. Last seen with a bashed front and a mattress tied to the roof, chugging down the highway blowing smoke. The buyer committed suicide not long afterward. His parents probably have it derelict in their yard now.

Peugeot: Sold to the same mechanic, who left it in his junkyard. Disappeared after a few years, probably hauled for scrap.

'89 Chevy pickup: Traded for the Ranger, last seen driven down the highway with no tailgate and the Eagle billet wheels swapped for white steelies. Probably still on the road somewhere.

#8, Rambler: Sold to an old man who gave me the Granada as a partial trade. He died a couple of months later. Last I heard (three or four years ago), the car is still parked under his carport, and his kids apparently aren't doing anything with it.

Granada: Sold to my mother's ex-boyfriend. He started repairing the rust, then stopped at some point. It's probably still half finished in his garage.

'98 Camaro: Sold to my cousin. The engine gave up not too long after. Junked.

Ranger: Sold to my sister. She's still driving it.

Sometimes I think I'd rather not know where a car goes after it's sold.

If I let any of my vehicles go I'm sure my Buick would end up on 22"+ wheels immediately after purchase, my Focus would be beat to shit by someone who can't park and doesn't care, and my Pontiac would get scrapped because it's useless and meaningless to anyone else. My dad tried to sell his Mustang a few years ago to someone who was interested until he walked around the passenger side and saw the quarter panel wasn't attached. At that point the prospective buyer said he really wanted a '67 and left.

#9, So do you just have the Genesis and the Miata now?

Maybe you should try to get the Rambler back. :)

#11, Just those two at the moment.

Trying to get the Rambler back has crossed my mind, but I really wouldn't be able to do any more with it now than I could then. I'd rather have new experiences, and move on to new frontiers.

......

And no, I don't mean Nissan Frontiers.
