Description:
Made a new acquisition...
2009 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT. 7k miles on the clock, and got it for a damn good price.
The shot I took of the front got washed out by a sun reflection... will have to try again. |

#1, just don't install a stereo and ride around listening to country at 100 dB and you're good. |

Nice bike...I especially like the black and blue color combo. The 903cc Kawasaki V-twins have a nice "cruiser purr" to them, too. |

I think I've completely shaken off the rust. Now, hopping on the bike and heading somewhere feels normal... no more trepidation about the controls, making sharp turns, being in traffic, etc... if only US1 on the way to work weren't under construction, I'd probably ride into work more often... but, as it is, I'll probably only do it sporadically, taking I95 instead. (which is more miles, and, due to higher speeds, provides for less fuel efficiency)...
Once US1 is finished, and no longer a twisty roller coaster, that'll be great... of course, knowing how road projects in this county go, it'll probably be YEARS... |

So, yeah... I had bought a custom gel seat for it... it definitely looked better than the stock unit, but I finally deduced that THAT is what was killing my back. Swapped back to the stock seat, and, on the advice of a friend, I got an air-cushion that straps to the stock seat, and BOY does it make a different. My back is perfectly fine for the first time in half a year.
The reason I heeded my friend's advice? He went through the same ordeal with his Triumph Bonneville... got a custom gel seat for it (though, his was made by Corbin, mine was made by Mustang), and it hurt his back... stock seat with the Airhawk (air cushion), and problem solved.
The bike's in the shop now. After putting 3000 miles on the bike, the front tire was pretty much done. Unfortunately, this was a bad time to have work done on it... shops are CRAMMED with post-Biketoberfest maintenance jobs and repair work. |
