i visited my college roommate in houston in february and the master cylinder blew up and spewed clutch fluid everywhere. id been having trouble with the clutch for a while- shuddering and getting worse, because i just HAD to have my six puck race clutch to handle those 200 vtec horses- so, my first instinct was to replace the clutch. my transmission had been making noises for years, so i decided to replace that too. cheaped out with a duralast clutch/fly combo and craigslisted another h22 transmission. fast forward a bit and theres no clutch pressure. long story not so short, the existence of the clutch master cylinder eluded my thought process over the course of the next few days and it ended up at a shop. they replaced the cylinder, but the clutch still wouldnt go all the way in. the pivot ball for the shift fork was fucked up and the shop wanted a grand to just swap my old transmission. longer story still not short at all, i ended up junking it out of frustration.

fortunately i work from home, so its not much of a financial loss as it is an emotional one, not only haven driven this car since 2003, but riding in it since 1992 before that. on a lighter note, new car time is the end of the month.

also i seem to have regained my interest in random car talk that brought me to and kept me on this site years ago. so hi guys.

Shame to hear. You can't say the car didn't treat you well, though, as long as you ran it.

What are you looking for in a replacement?

Sorry to hear the old girl gave up on you. At least you got an extra several years of use out of it while my 6K's been sitting idle the whole time. :(
The body still looks pretty good in the picture. Could you have parted it out or was it not worth the time and trouble?

#12, hindsight being what it is, i should have parted it out, but i was 250mi from home and needed to get back. it was logistics that killed it. if it had died anywhere near dallas, itd still be on the road, which is frustrating as shit. but the gs is gonna be one sweet upgrade.
