HELL YES!

On a related note, a recent car coffee table book I read listed Willys as the creator of the WWII Jeep, and Bantam merely as one of the 'other companies' that produced it. There was so much wrong with that that I stopped reading right there and tossed the book away. To brush aside Bantam's contribution like that is unacceptable.

Just in case anyone is curious what book I'm talking about... http://www.amazon.com/dp/0789324377

...and yes, I wrote an extremely scathing review of it.

#3, "Coffee table" books on cars seem to be the most egregiously error-filled of any genre, it's like they don't even fact check and just regurgitate what they "know" of a given car via pop-culture. Maybe it's just because it's one of my few passionate hobbies, but, I see so much stuff that's just NOT right it makes me downright angry at times.

#4, Yeah, my review (Under "DRF") pretty much sums it up like that.

#3, Wow, that book sounds pretty ridiculous. A Mercedes with a quoted 400 mph/600 km/h top speed? Really?

#6, I also get annoyed when people perpetuate long-debunked urban legends as fact, in published books where there's no excuse beyond laziness for re-telling the ol' bromides of the JATO-powered Impala, or the dog-blows-up-Jeep-with-dynamite story.... makes me angry........... *seethe* *seethe* VEEEEEEEERYYY angry indeed!

#6, Yes, really.

I also remember it stating that a Ford Capri (the European one) had a 220hp V8... and the fox-body Mustang as being the first Mustang with a backseat.

#8, The first Mustang with a back seat?

Did the individual who wrote this book actually know anything about automobiles? o_0
