#1, Before Exner got complete control over ChryCo's styling department, their cars' designs were pretty much vetted and approved solely by the accounting and engineering departments, with very little leeway given to the artists... so it kinda makes sense that the two-toning, and overall styling, were pretty damn conservative and bland... when they finally gave Exner carte blanche authority, beginning with the '55 model year, things got better... much, MUCH better.
...and then the marketers took control away from Exner and his department in '61, and we see how well *that* went... |
