It's just sad that, for pickups to be successful in America anymore, they have to be big, brutish, and with exagerrated styling.

Though, I'm sure the "Chicken tax" also helped kill a lot of foreign compact pickups, as well... they'd have to make a huge investment to build them in America to keep prices low, and the already slim profit-margins on compact pickups probably didn't make it worth it. Large pickups have enormous profit margins.

I'm convinced that if some manufacturer produced a modern, "subcompact" pickup, with a 4 cylinder and over 30 mpg, it would sell. Not every truck has to have a half ton payload and a 10k lb towing capacity.
