Nice to see one in the North American wild... I'm still eager to see how these actually fare, whether they can match the ruggedness and following of the Econoline, or if they'll suffer from the rust and reliability problems of the Sprinters...

I still think all the Euro-adapted "domestic" vans are freaking ugly.

My local Ford dealer told me they can't keep the big Transits on the lot, though, so they must be doing something right.

I'll admit, the Fiat Ducato/Ram ProMaster are friggin' hideous... but I love the Sprinter, and am rather fond of the styling of the Transit.

[edit] Wow, actually, the facelifted '15 Ducato isn't too bad... http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2015-fiat-ducato/ The styling is even further away from Dodge/Ram's current styling theme, so I wonder how they'll implement it...

#3, I call it the ProBastard for a reason. Sprinter isn't so bad, but that's why I said "domestic".

The '15 Ducato almost works.

I have a hard time warming up to Sprinters after a whole shitload of issues that hit all Mercedes vans in the late 90s /early 2000s and still see to trail beind them like a festering intestine. Stories of exploding engines, rust (to that I can attest myself... how the fuck can a galvanized steel door rust in the middle of the panel on any 3-year old vehicle, nevermind a Mercedes?), hilarious service costs and customer service... It's like W210 all over again for ever...

The Sprinters are the most quick-to-rust vehicles I've ever seen, only saved from top honors because I wasn't around to see the Vega, but I did see the Scout II and Aspire. Within 3 years around here, the doors were disintegrating and bubbly rust was forming in the middle of flat panels. How a modern vehicle manufacturer could fail that bad at rust proofing in this day and age is astounding. Word of mouth go around quick, and these days, contractors either hold on to their old-school Econolines or get the Transit.

The transport vans at work, they are ALL Econolines... I believe they used Sprinters once, but that was before I worked there... I imagine it wasn't successful. It *does* appear that they've recently added MANY new Econolines to the fleet, recently, perhaps in anticipation of production ending...

#7, quickest to rust vehicles around here including the Toyota Yaris, Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix, Mercedes W210 and W211. Runners up include the Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent, the Mazda 3 and 6, and any Hyundai Sonata made between 2005 and 2010.

Mercedes commercial department was hit with the 'new Benz way' of making cars along with the passenger sector, who knows if not worse. The W638 (first generation Vito) is comedy gold, and I saw and drove a prime example: all body panels rusted (even the roof! the roof!), nothing electical worked anymore, all locks jammed, cracking plastic inside and out, engine failures. Come on Mercedes, how the fuck do you make an old, non-common rail, non turbo, industrial grade boat anchor diesel unreliable? Germans invented diesel for fuck's sake!

#9, Luckily my 2 hasn't shown any problems with rust... but I get it waxed every six months, and *was* getting it run through a car wash every two weeks... but now I have the ability to garage it, so I'm getting it washed about once a month.
