Ford Focus that almost became mine.

If anyone wants to hear, I can talk about why it didn't in the comments.

You were instead seduced by the wiles of the C-Max?

#2, Too expensive? Didn't drive as well as you expected? Exploded after you test drove it? The salesman thrust his hand down your pants and tried to manipulate your schwanz?

Speak, damn you! >:O

#3, That last one was unnecessarily graphic.

[edit] ...and the last line I read in the voice of Jamie Hyneman. ("Quack, damn you!")

HAHAHAHAHA

Nah, well, first off, it was the only one in the area in my budget, and I drove it twice. BUT. I asked to see a carfax, which came back clean. However, the autocheck did not. I asked why the autocheck didn't and the sales manager got all huffy and puffy and tried to tell me not to have faith in the autocheck. So, I ran the vin through Ford's site. Came back as a insurance writeoff (NO SALE). Since it wasn't a MN car, I figured that the dealer simply didn't have the history. I ran the vin of two other Ford vehicles (2009 Fusion SE and 2010 Fusion Hybrid) and both of those came back with bad autochecks as well.

I will never trust a "clean carfax" again, and I will never trust this dealer.

quick edit: They had two cars in the showroom with curbed wheels and one with a obviously previously-deployed airbag marked as a "LINCOLN CERTIFIED."

#5, Well that's weird. I've never really used either Autocheck or Carfax, though my mother probably should have...her '07 Focus had very obviously been wrecked, and the electrical system was a nightmare, right up until it caught fire.

#6, I use both, but I've found out carfax only shows what's reported. You can have a wreck, and not notify carfax, apparently.

#6, I'm damn sure my Mirage had been in a serious accident... but the primitve 2004 VIN check didn't show anything... the only thing it showed was that it started life as a rental car in the Midwest somewhere (I can't remember where, exactly)

#8, The thing that tipped me off, is I noticed the passenger door didn't sit flush when shut. So I asked about it, and they got defensive. Upon leaving the dealer, I drove by the bodyshop area next to the dealer (which is next to the BMW dealer as well), I saw maybe 20 cars in the repair bay half-assembled, two of which appeared on the lot within a week of actually getting my C-Max.

#9, The hood on the Mirage didn't exactly sit flush when closed... the driver's-side trailing edge was actually raised a few inches... plus, the hood would stay up by itself after creaking and groaning open... which it wasn't supposed to do.
