Doesn't Glotzbach still hold the NASCAR top speed record, set in a '69 Charger Daytona?

I hear the name Glotzbach, I see a car that looks like this, and all I can think of is Bud Lindemann's borderline-cheesy, but excited, narration...

#1, Hmmm... it appears he lapped a race-prepped Dodge Daytona at 243mph at Chrysler's Chelsea proving grounds. Not exactly an official NASCAR record.

The Dodge Daytona WAS the first to lap an official NASCAR track at an average speed over 200mph, but that was with Buddy Baker at the wheel. From what I can gather, it was the same Daytona as Glotzbach's 243mph Chelsea run.

One NASCAR record Glotzbach DOES hold is the fastest average race speed at Bristol... even though he was replaced by a relief driver halfway through the race. The record is still in his name, and still stands.

#4, The official NASCAR record for fastest average lap speed was set by Bill Elliott at Talladega in 1987; 212.8 mph. That was the year before restrictor plates were mandated.

Back in 2004, Rusty Wallace, out of sheer curiosity, ran his Dodge Intrepid NASCAR unrestricted at Talladega, and achieved an average lap speed of 216.3 mph, with speeds as high as 228 mph at the end of the straightaway. He stated that if they were actually to spend the time tuning and tweaking the car like they would for an actual race, they could probably run 235. (Lord knows how fast it would be in a draft)
