Description:
Another day, another multicar accident, apparently. This Kia Spectra was in the path of a douche in a Ford Freestar who got the bright idea to use the oncoming lanes as his own passing lane. A bus was coming toward the scene, and the Freestar rove into the Kia to avoid the bus (smart? choice) There was a 2014 Toyota Avalon involved as well,as he too, swerved to move away from the Freestar.

The douche in the Freestar took off on foot, and was captured by a school security guy. No clue why, but the Avalon took off; he threw his shit into reverse and hightailed it out of there and hid in the parking garage. He, too, was caught (police followed a trail of fluid). But enough of that, here's the pictures.

As was stated in your previous crash thread, America is in desperate need of more dashcams.

I'm doing my part!

#3, Saw the aftermath of one... a truck flipped over in the slow lane, emergency services had *just* arrived... but my camera starts a new recording every 3 minutes, and when I passed by it was *right* in that switchover, so it was kinda jerky/glitchy footage.

#4, :( aww..

dang. This past week has been nuts for wrecks. These two, plus 5 or 6 near misses I shot, and the aftermath of a wreck which was minor but still had me going "why the fuck?' I swear the driving is getting worse around here.

There was a 3-car wreck whose aftermath I saw on my way to work this morning. Late-model Explorer Sport Trac with front end damage, Lexus RX with rear damage and a Toyota 4Runner that ended up facing the wrong way on the other side of the median at the intersection.

#1, I'd just like to point out how incredibly sad it is when you get hauled in by school security, and are over 18.

Our big wreck o' the week was an old Jeep CJ that stepped out of line on a 2-lane highway, and into the path of a semi. Went under the trailer and sheered the rear tandem axles off, semi took out two other cars (a Dart and a Legacy) before driver could get it stopped. Check the slideshow. http://www.centredaily.com/2014/10/...-shut.html?rh=1

Incredibly, no fatalities. The Jeep driver only lived via ejection.

It was an "all hands on deck" call from 911 for every tow truck in the county, ours came back with the motor/trans assembly out of the Jeep, and that's it. https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd....4f6c137b6b14569

#8, Look close, it's in the ditch on the far side, with all 4 wheels still on it. (Pic 4, the lady with the blue shirt and handbag is standing right in front of it)

Irony, the groundbreaking ceremony for widening that route to 4 lanes to keep that from happening... it was this week.

:O Holy shit. That must've been something to see. :/ Are you a tow truck driver for a living, and how do you deal with scrap car parts/debris? It's gotta be an interesting job, but one question: what do you guys do with crashes where its a fatal?

#10, Yep, been towing for 5 years now. Any debris lying around you pick/sweep up, put it in a trash bag and haul it away with the wreck. If it's too heavy to lift, send out the roll back and winch it on, that's how the body/frame of the Jeep was eventually towed away by another truck. We threw a chain on the engine block and "towed" it by having it dangle like a fishing lure on the way back.

If it's fatal, by the time you get there, the body is out, you tow it like any other wreck, except it goes to the PD impound pending investigation. Once they're finished, they'll call us and it's towed to the scrap yard like anything else.

#15, Fortunately, in all those years, I still only have one straight-up on-the-scene fatal under my belt. The rest have been non-fatal, no matter how bad they looked.

The worst I ever saw a car torn up was a Buick Park Avenue that pulled out in front of a tri-axle dumptruck hauling coal. The trucker cut the wheel hard to try and avoid him, but, that only tipped the truck over, and it fell directly on top of the car.

The tallest point of it after they dug it out was one of the rear "C" pillars to the roof, that was about as tall now as a pair of mattresses, everything else was FLATTER.

Triple-fatal, impatient Dad killed his whole family.

#17, Just like they look when they come out of the crusher, flat from bumper to bumper. We didn't tow it, saw it at another tow yard while picking up a car.

Oh, and the fatal I was on, was a case of an idiot killing himself and only himself, so I didn't feel too bad about it.

Motorcyclist on a crotch-rocket was doing triple digits on surface streets.

Couldn't dodge the F350 King Ranch that pulled out in front of him.

Hit it right in the left front wheel. 120 to zero in the span of a hood-with.

No helmet

Dead on the spot.

Had to tow the truck and bike to PD impound. I got the truck, other driver got the bike, well 2/3rds of one, from the motor forward, it no longer existed, totally blown to bits. That was all swept into bags, if we found it.
