When the 2005 Mustang came out, I was shocked by how much of an improvement it was, visually. I loved it at first sight...

...then they came out with vastly-improved engines in 2011 (coupled with the nice '10 styling refresh), and I loved 'em even more...

But this? Yes, I'm impressed with the EcoBoost-4 option, but they totally fucked up by not using the SVO nomenclature... and the styling? It's alright. I personally don't think its proportions and details are all that impressive... and call me knee-jerk or generalist, or whatever... but the rear quarter windows/greenhouse still looks like a fucking Accord coupe.

Ok, yeah, rah-rah IRS rah-rah... but that's simply something that should have come along a decade or more earlier. It's like celebrating a Chinese car company for making a car that can finally pass a crash test.

I like the upper-echelon versions, and having gotten sneak peeks at the new Shelby GT, I am excited for that. This one, not so much.

I agree about the SVO, for those who remember it. Problem is, most of the generation of people who can afford the turbo Mustang, they have no idea what SVO is or why its special :( They do know Ecoboost.

Oh, and I am GLAD they finally got rid of MyFordTouch. Thank fuck. Now only if Cadillac would ditch CUE.

#3, Who cares if some 19 year old doesn't know what SVO's legacy is? Ford could have made a whole *new* legacy for that nomenclature... "EcoBoost" just screams "let's save the environment!", not "High powered car with a lightweight engine"

#4, this is true. But with one Ford, and now "Ford Performance", it looks like FPV is the new performance brand, so at least we'll get something Aussie here after all :P.

Also, the SVO when new wasn't very-well marketed, and dealers often jacked up prices to the point where the cars were unsellable, even with discounts bringing them down to MSRP. I don't think Ford wants to repeat that legacy. Then again, they still sell the GT500, and we know how close to MSRP those sell for. :P

I think re-hashing SVO, a relic of the 80s, on a car looking to change its image towards the future from a pony car to more of an actual sports coupe, restyling its image from retro, to modern, and dabbling in new (for the brand) technology, looking to the past for an old nomclature that the current generation would not likely get, or care about. While the idea of a new SVO is all fine and good but... its just trying to live in the past. so I am personally, fine with them staying with their current ecoboost nomclature. but as for me. I could not want a turbo 4 mustang. To me, Mustang cant ever really be a small low torque car to compete with hyundai genesis or subaru BRZ type. Give me the reliable power and seat of the pants kick of torque.

#6, My same thinking. Honestly, the new car just doesn't interest me. It's kind of lost its identity, really.

#7, I am actually really liking this car. but each to their own. I sat in one exactly like this last weekend and it... its comfortable yet hugging, and well layed out. except for the button hell dashboard.
