#1, Yep. Here, even the '92 to '95 version are all-but gone, and the '96-'99 ones are doing the same.

I saw a near-mint black or navy blue early Sable sedan driving today. They're still around, but most are thrashed with two or three wheels in the grave.

the second gens had bad transmissions i believe.

The transmission and engine (head gasket) were both notorious. The engine went in my dad's '94 Taurus GL at 99k and was replaced under the 100k powertrain warranty, and the transmission was getting weak. When he sold it the next owner had to have the transmission rebuilt not long afterward. He then made the mistake of giving it to his daughter and I think she killed it.
