Description:
Well, enough using other people's photographs to teach railroad history, here's one of mine.
A trio of Geeps head up an eastbound mixed freight along the Nittany & Bald Eagle Railroad between Port Matilda and Julian, PA on Feb 20th, 2015.

Lead unit #1603 is a former Reading Railroad GP-7, built in 1953. Acquired in the Conrail mega-merger of bankrupt northeast rail lines it was rebuilt and refurbished as a "GP-8" in the late 70's, an operation that gave it a new prime mover, better electrics, better air filters and cut the high nose off for better visibility. In turn, it was acquired by NBE in 1990 when Conrail withdrew all the old "Geeps" from it's roster.
Behind it, #1804 is an ex-Pennsylvania Railroad GP-9, refurbished under identical cicrumstances into a "GP-10"
Trailing the pack is GP38 #2004, the young kid on the roster, it was built around 66'-70' and wears the Erie Lackawanna railroad-inspired Maroon, grey and yellow livery of the North Shore Railroad, NBE's parent company.
