I know these things have a reputation as unreliable, but how BAD is the resale value? Because one just came in to the bodyshop for what looks like about a 15mph collision that messed up the front bumper and headlight on the one corner, and they totalled it.... is the rep really THAT bad?

It's 10-15 years old. It's a Honda. They have rust tendencies. They're not easy to find. Maybe something got bent out of shape that you didn't see?

Probably just easier for insurance to say screw it and pay out. :(

A nice one in PA will still net you $10k-20k.

#2, KBB doesn't reflect real value. These things (at least in Kansas) are still $15k cars off dealer lots.

For that money, better to buy a Miata or a Solstice/Sky of the same vintage and spend the other $8,000 on reconditioning and modifications.

#4, Sky (especially the Redline) are about the same price. I'm almost kicking myself for not getting Solstice GXP for $12,900. But It's not practical :(
