Description:
On the left, the Pennsylvania State University powerplant gets a load of coal from the Bellefonte Central railroad sometime around 1950.
On the right, the same area today. Trucks started bringing in the coal in the early 60's and the track was accordingly torn out about that time, over my shoulder at the time I took the picture is the former train station which is now a bus depot. |

I'm guessing the power plant had some kind of "mule" unit that could move the coal cars around for loading/unloading that probably ran on narrow gauge track, as you can see the track is 3-rail "dual gauge" track that accommodates both. But nobody seems to have any information I can find. |
