You can sit around and wait for the phone to ring........

Waiting for someone to tell you everything....

Sit around and wonder what tomorrow will bring, maybe a diamond ring.......

Its always a depressing sight to see rails being torn up. sometimes I miss the sound of a train horn ringing its arrival as it passes through my home town. but alas that line is nothing but an ATV trail. and the trestle that once held the train accross beaver river went up in flames due to idiot teenagers. *sigh* I miss those days. Sometimes I find places with active lines just to sit and wait, just to hear the sound of the horn and engines running as they cross by.

#1, Never fear. These will be put back just as soon as they finish re-grading the crossing, this fall has been MOW season on the line, they've replaced a couple hundred rotten ties and done some minor re-grading in places.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ulb1HDbN76I Same track, couple miles down the line where I have to cross during my commute, about 1 in 50 times, I have to wait.

Lawrence does have a train station, and, like you guys, I find it fun to watch and listen for trains. I grew up not far from the station, and I used to be able to pick out a train coming, and especially in the dead of night. I miss those days, kind of. Now, the amtrak station is in the "arts" district, and it houses either a) drifters (not that kind, or generally shitty people.

Sorry for the potato-like picture quality, but I had to drive with one hand and wasn't expecting the train to show up. For most of my commute, the line runs parallel to the highway, and in places, it gets unusually close, like, could-stick-an-arm-out-the-window-and-touch-it close. I timed this just right to hit the narrowest part just as the engines went by. And now you know why we were a location shot for "Unstoppable"

Well, it's all right, even when push comes to shove.
Well, it's all right, if you got someone to love.
Well, it's all right, everything'll work out fine.
Well, it's all right, we're going to the end of the line.
