#3, Great tragedy in my opinion...
But the 2 was rated at ~30mpg overall, and for numbers-driven, lowest-common denominator American buyers, that wasn't good enough... they all bought ~35-40mpg rated Fiestas and Versas instead... nevermind the fact that, in real world driving, they would get roughly the same mpg as the 2, anyway...
The 2 was lighter, had a smaller footprint, but was roomier inside, drove better, and, overall, was a better-"fleshed out" car, in that not many corners were cut to sell it at an economy car price...
Now that the 2 actually has a Skyactiv engine worldwide, it could have actually played the mpg numbers game with the best of them... damn shame.
