Description:
Kawasaki Vulcan S.
Take one Ninja 650R, replace all the fairings and bodywork with pseudo-cruiser pieces, and give it a feet-forward riding position, and voilĂ .
If I had known these existed when I bought my used VTX, I might have considered it... yeah, only 650cc, but being a sport-tuned bike engine, it has a bit more power than my old Kwaka 900 V-twin did. |

The reason I say I'd have considered it is because, brand new, these base out at $7k (which is roughly what I negotiated my VTX down to)
The one pictured, of course, is NOT a base model... the shield, lightbar, bags, etc, would add about $2500... the way *I* would want to trim one out would not have a passenger seat, so that would drop $500 from the accessory cost.
These bikes have a unique marketing feature... when you buy one brand new, you're given three options for fitment, each in three sizes, depending on your height and build... seat, handlebars, and footpegs/controls. I've read reviews from people taller and larger than myself that say, with those adjustments, it's a very comfortable bike.
In terms of power, it's rated a ~5hp higher than my 900 was... but it's a fair bit lighter, albeit, the engine produces its power at higher revs, with not as much low-end torque. I still think I might have enjoyed it. |
