Description:
Getting off work at 2am means I got to have a little fun playing in the parking lot of the shopping center across the street before they could plow it. The car's not half as bad in this as you'd think.

There is a distinct lack of rear tire marks being outside of the front tire marks in this photo, though.

#1, Sorry, that's the best I can do on a 38 year old 301 Pontiac hauling a heavy 3,000+ pound chassis.

Tomorrow the fun starts, getting the MP3/CD player in to replace the (inoperable) Sears tape deck...... had the bodyshop at work use a dremel and cut out the holes in the faceplate for the tuner knobs, after that, it slid right in, now just have to hook it up.

#4, I think it never had one, actually, but, it DID have the optional AM/FM radio, since the FM antenna is inside the front windshield.

Well, the surprises don't ever end. Pulled the old head unit out, and there were 8 wires coming off the back..... well, 2 wires, into a wire nut, where 8 came out (yay homebrew wiring), the car has factory stereo.... I never knew that. I thought the holes in the front dash where the speakers are were just part of the defroster grid.... so that's cool. The hardest part was trying to find a source of constant power for the new radio/CD/MP3 because it needs that to keep the clock/memory from resetting every time you turn off the car. According to the wiring diagrams, the courtesy light circuit is hot all the time, so look for the orange wires... the problem, there isn't any courtesy light near the center console, or so I thought, there was one pointed down at the gas/brake pedals that was burnt out, never noticed it, literally 3 inches from the main wiring bundle was an orange one I could tap into.... things should NEVER be this easy.

The blue light on that faceplate is a bit incongruous with the dim yellow lighting on all the other gauges, but, tis' a small price to pay to have driving music back.

Now, onto the next "comfort" fix, figuring out why the cruise doesn't work....
