Description:
A typical Moselle barge with what looked like a new E-Class onboard.The maximum length is 110 meters (as dedicated by size of water locks), unless the barge in question is a 2 piece design that splits in the middle to go through locks. Take a look at the draft of the loaded one in the main picture vs an empty one:

You don't realize the tonnage on a commercial barge is getting close to railroad train levels, especially when you have 5 or 6 lashed together. In fact, the tugboats that move the barges though Pittsburgh are powered by the same diesel prime-movers in same-era train engines. During baseball season, you can hear them in the background of some Pirate games on the radio as they go down the Allegheny behind the stadium.
