#1, Yes and no. I still think the GTI and Jetta (the nice-spec ones at least), and the Passat are all nice cars. I tihnk the Tiguan is doing okay, too, but they let it linger on too long. I think VW still doesn't think highly of America, and I say this only because they continue to offer better cars overseas. |

I'd have to say Ford, too, to an extent. They're progressively making the trucks uglier and uglier, and they wait until the last minute to update cars they brought us from their European branches. |

#1, It's called greed, and indeed, it is a deadly sin. Porsche did this starting with the watercooled 911 (996), many other brands followed suit... but it does not seem to hurt sales much, all that counts in marketing and people who do actually buy these cars just get a credit/lease and get rid of them after 2-3 years - who gives a fuck about reliability after that??? Only used car buyers and their cash rarely reaches the manufacturer. |
