Apparently Firebird's equivalent of the Camaro Berlinetta....a mid-range luxury-oriented model. Curiously, it was available with nearly every option from the Trans Am, including the WS6 suspension.
Built from 1982 through 1986, this one seems to be an '85. |

#1, So... if someone would take all the options, how would this be different from a Trans-Am? Just color/graphics? |

#2, The Trans Am had a different spoiler, hood, interior trim (with optional Recaro seats) and ground effects, as well as a hotter line of engines.
The SE came standard with a 2.8 V6, and could have a 165 horsepower 5.0 V8 optional. That same 165 horsepower V8 was the standard engine in the Trans Am, but it could also be optioned with a 190 horsepower variant of the same engine (which only came with a five speed manual), or new for 1985, a 210 horsepower electronic fuel injected variant (which only came with a four speed automatic).
I've seen conflicting stories over whether that 190 horsepower "L69" 305 was available in the base and SE Firebirds in 1985. It wasn't in the previous years, but with the introduction of the 210 horse variant, it would make sense to throw a bone to the lower trims. |
