Description:
While the Genesis is in the body shop, Geico provided me money for a rental car. This is what I'll be driving for the next week or two: A 2016 Nissan Versa SV.

With the reimbursement the insurance company is giving me, the rental agent told me to pretty much take my pick from cars on the lot, with the exception of a Chevrolet Suburban (which I'd have to pay extra for).

My first choice was a silver Chrysler 300 with tan interior. Only a V6, but still a comfortable RWD car on a platform that I've always been a bit curious about. Unfortunately, while preparing the car, they told me it had a broken turn signal, so no dice.

A dark blue Chevrolet Malibu and a dark red Nissan Sentra were also present, but both were rented out while I was waiting on the Chrysler.

By then there were four eligible vehicles left: A silver Versa Note, a silver Versa sedan, a red Chevrolet Sonic, and a black Ford F-150. I chose the Versa Note, a model that I sort of like aesthetically. They started the process on that car, then told me it had just been returned and they hadn't had a chance to clean it yet, then asked would I mind taking the sedan instead. Fine.

#1, The result has been a bit interesting. It's what you'd expect from the cheapest car on the market...lots of hard plastic and exposed bolts, noisy and gutless engine, loose steering feel, and high ride height with lots of understeer and body roll in the corners.

Despite that, the car has a certain almost Soviet quality that I find endearing. And for cheap transportation, there's nothing all that wrong with the car. It has a high seating position, great visibility, a gigantic trunk, a spacious rear seat, and easy-to-read instrumentation. It would be a good cheap family car.

All in all, this isn't something I would own, but I don't mind driving it for a while.

Not that this means anything, but Nissan and Lada are part of the same company now...

[edit] But, yeah, the Versa's biggest selling point is its space vs. price ratio. I believe it's classified as a midsize by the EPA.

I like the way the front looks :/ I hope they don't fuck it up with the new front end though :(
