Well, my dad appears to have made his decision on a replacement... he had considered the RAM ProMaster City... until he tried sitting in it. The vehicle was farrr smaller than he anticipated...

...he was always opposed to 3-row SUVs, as he assumed the second row would always be compromised to allow for access to a third row he'd never use... he had the Nissan Murano in mind for a while, as it was pretty much one of the larger 2-row SUVs on the market; while at a Nissan dealership, he figured, "why not", and looked at a newer Pathfinder, and was surprised by two things:

1. The front seat driver's area is wide open and doesn't "cocoon" the driver.
2. The second row bench is just as comfortable as his Pacifica's... it doesn't sacrifice anything for access to the third row.

...the dimensions and power ratings on the Pathfinder pretty much match the Pacifica, with only minimal differences. ...and the third row folds flat neatly, so he'd pretty much keep it stowed permanently.

So, he's made up his mind; he's going to scour the local area for a lightly-used, low-mileage Platinum-trim Pathfinder from the past few years, and, if the CarFax and AutoCheck both look good, he'll probably buy it. On the used market, trim levels don't really affect the price as much as on new cars, so he figures, why not go for the top trim?

Oh wow. Would he get the top-trim Platinum or?

#2, Yarp. He's on the lookout for Platinum. On the used market, it's like, a couple grand difference between a base S and a Platinum... whereas, when new, it's a $10k+ difference.

#3, Yeah, I was gonna say. Here's a random question. Why not a QX60. I know the styling is a love it or a hate it endeavor, but for all the luxury, why not?

#4, He may just look at a QX60... but "luxury" cars tend to have a bad habit of having more ornate interior door panels/bolstered seats/larger center consoles... all of which pinch away room for the driver.

#5, Appreciate the notion, but he's up North right now. His red Pacifica down here is just fine and dandy, no need for replacement.

#6, fair enough. I just figured if you're gonna go the Pathfinder route...

He considered the QX60, but the base QX60 is missing equipment that the Platinum Pathfinder has (probably so Infiniti has wiggle-room to bloat the price of a QX60)

...but he's hit a snag. He hates black cars. He hates grey/silver cars. The green on the Pathfinder is a joke, it's so dark it's almost black... so that essentially leaves him with white (his main preference), burgundy, or blue. The blue would be his second choice, since it would match the BMW X1 (He likes the notion of having "daddy" and "baby" SUVs of the same color in the garage, next to each other)... and for leather interiors, he heavily favors tan/creme.

Only problem? Almost all used Pathfinders in his area are either in black or grey, and tend to have the black or dark brown ("Java") interiors... so, he's thinking he might bite the bullet and just get a brand new one, so he can get the color combo he wants.
