Description:
The year is 2000.

You've got this stellar TOCA World Touring Cars game in Europe, but you're not sure it'll sell in America.

What do you do? Well, NASCAR is reaching its peak popularity, and its racecars are erroneously, colloquially know as "stock cars"... and, you know what, there are popular drivers named Jarrett and Labonte on that circuit. Why not ink deals with their *sons*, who are barely beginning their racing careers? Who cares if they've never driven touring-style race cars.

One of the sneakiest game titles ever. ...but that was salvaged by the fact the game was incredibly good. Excellent, diverse lineup of vehicles, as well.

Never heard of this. That naming is sneaky as balls. Still, I guess if you get a good game out of it, it can't be too much of an offense.

#1, Also, the motion blur on the cars hides their non-NASCAR-ness to some extent. The average idiot might not even notice they have four doors.

I always liked the TOCA games. TOCA 2 Touring Car Challenge and Pro Race Driver were important titles in my formative years.

...oh, and, apparently, this was the pre-production coverart, which pushed the sneakiness even further... https://i.imgur.com/ygEu723.jpg

Oh Lord... here's another one. Atlus had a mountain-pass racing game, heavily inspired by Initial D… this is how they marketed it in America: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_...ce_(video_game)
