Description:
...the Demio hatchback is making a triumphant return to America!

I know the Mazda3 hatchback has captured my fancy, with its fancy variable-compression engine technology and gorgeous styling, but the Demio still holds a large place in my heart...

To be honest, there's only one thing holding me back... http://photo.ricecop.com/pics/2020yarrralph.jpg *klaxxon sound*

So it's being sold as a Toyota now?

#1, The DJ-generation Demio sedan was sold in America from the get-go, first as the Scion iA, then as the Toyota Yaris Sedan... now that Toyota has deep-sixed its own, home-grown Yaris hatchback, they're now bringing over the Demio hatchback.

(Yes, that means, for a while, the Toyota Yaris hatchback and sedan were two entirely different vehicles)

That shade of blue is nice in any case. And the Yaris hatchback is way past due for an actual substantive update instead of putting a bigger, uglier fascia on it every couple of years.
I think the grille actually shrank with this version.

#2, Oh yeah, I remember the Mazda-built Scion/Yaris sedan weirdness.

Also, since Puerto Rico is US territory, you can import a Mazda 2 from PR. I wonder how many people have done that?

#5, ...if a car were purchased in PR, would it be fully legit to register/operate it in Florida? I'm honestly curious...

#6, yes. All you have to pay is the $845 shipping fee.

#6, Attach pontoons to it and drive it home. Just tell the Coast Guard not to shoot because you came from Puerto Rico and not Cuba.

The PR-spec Mazda2 is CARB certified, so I don't see why it would be a problem at least for emissions purposes.

Wonder if you could buy the Mazda front clip, headlights and badging and just bolt it on the Yaris.

Fucking hell... I can't turn off my brain right now... NO NO NO BAD IDEA... it's how I felt when I saw that black Nissan Figaro on a Japanese importer website... luckily, I'm too lazy to ever follow through on a wild idea like that.

#10, I don't know if it would be a "bad idea" since you can get it serviced at either Mazda or Toyota dealers.

#11, I have to keep a clear mind and remain committed to my current car, at least through the current payment plan and warranty... once I hit the end of both of those, I may consider my car options...

(both end in just over 1 year from now)

#13, Well sheeit. Maybe that'll open the door for Mazda to start selling the 2 again here in the 48 contiguous. No more Toyota fishy face.

I like the sedan and they're certainly cheap enough, but I don't like the minimalistic interior touchscreen stuff.
