Though I slip up, I've been trying to keep my usage here on RoN relatively non-political, but in reference to rrb's post on yesterday's Free Post, all I can say is I'm glad I've made the decision to hold onto the CX-3 for the long-term.

It's an incredibly selfish thought, but the potential massive increase in car prices may rise the prices of used cars, as well, which means I may get more for the Bimmer if and when I decide to sell it.

#1, I just roll my eyes and move on. I can get into plenty of political slug-fests on X without dragging all of that over here.

#2, In the past six months, I've abandoned both my FB and Twitter accounts, unsubscribed from almost all subreddits that contain even the smallest amount of political content (including /pics and /askreddit) and, though I still maintain my Bluesky account, I've unsubscribed from a number of accounts that regularly bring up politics.

My viewpoint is, yes, I know the world is going to absolute hell, at a shockingly accelerated rate, but I don't need to be observing the collapse in real-time at all hours that I'm online. I've drastically narrowed the scope of my areas of concern, and am focusing on myself and my mental health.

#3, ...and that last part of my post is the main reason I quit my job. I wasn't sleeping at night. The stress was weighing on me at all times. I felt myself getting psychosomatically "triggered" when certain emails would arrive. I think the job was actually making me physically ill.

I'm taking a six month break to get my mind and body sorted. When I come back from my Japan trip, that's when I'm going to start the job hunt again.
